Tuesday, October 12
Las Vegas is no longer just a destination, it’s an experience! With luxury resorts, world-class dining, critically acclaimed shows and other one-of-a-kind recreational and sightseeing opportunities. On this 17 day tour you’ll spend 5 nights in Las Vegas, plus enjoy all the scenery and sightseeing enroute to Las Vegas and then back home. We start by traveling west through Pennsylvania and on to Ohio. In Somerset, PA we’ll enjoy lunch at Oakhurst Tea Room. Our lodging for this evening will be in Columbus, Ohio. L
Wednesday, October 13
Today we continue west traveling through Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. By late afternoon we arrive in St. Louis, Missouri where we’ll visit the impressive Gateway Arch. Our lodging for this evening will be in nearby St. Peters, Missouri. CB
Thursday, October 14
After a continental breakfast at the hotel we cross the state of Missouri with a stop at the Hallmark Visitor’s Center in Kansas City. Here we will enjoy a visit and lunch on our own. Our lodging this evening is in Salina, Kansas. CB
Friday, October 15
As we pass from Central to Mountain Time the terrain becomes more rugged. The grandeur of the Rocky Mountain skyline will lure us into Denver where we will spend the night. Dinner this evening will be included at the hotel. CB, D
Saturday, October 16
Today we cross over the Colorado Rockies and travel westward through the Eisenhower Tunnel. Our afternoon leads us along the Colorado River into Utah and our overnight in Green River.
Sunday, October 17
After a continental breakfast at the hotel we depart on the last leg of our journey to Las Vegas, Nevada. Traveling southwest we cross into Pacific Time and arrive in Las Vegas by late afternoon. We will check into the Excalibur Hotel, our home for the next 5 nights. Tonight you are free to enjoy Las Vegas at your leisure. CB
Monday, October 18
This morning you can enjoy free time to explore Las Vegas and get acquainted with the Excalibur Hotel. Later we will travel a short distance to the Hoover Dam for a Discovery Tour. The Discovery Tour is a way to see, learn and appreciate what the Hoover Dam is all about. This tour was created to meet the public interest in visiting the dam and provide a quality and informative visit. Included in your visit is a tour of the dam, displays, a movie, the exhibit gallery, overlook and a visit to the power plant generators. This evening we will enjoy a welcome to Las Vegas, get acquainted dinner at Regale Italian Eatery. D
Tuesday, October 19
This morning we’re off to tour some interesting places along the strip including: the Venetian with its grand canal and living statues; the Mirage to view the white tiger habitat; the conservatory at Bellagio’s and a stroll through Paris’ Le Boulevard. This afternoon is free to explore on your own. This evening we will travel to Fremont Street which many consider “old Las Vegas”. Here you will be able to view the “Fremont Experience.” On the way back to the Excalibur, we will stop to view the Fountains of Bellagio. B
Wednesday, October 20
Today after breakfast will be a free day to enjoy and explore at your leisure. B
Thursday, October 21
This morning we will tour the Liberace Museum, now the third most popular attraction in the State of Nevada. The main building, formerly a bank, holds Liberace’s collection of pianos, candelabras and cars. The other section contains exhibits of memorabilia, family photos, antiques, jewelry and fabulous stage costumes. After an included lunch and performance, the remainder of the day is free to enjoy at your leisure. B, L
Friday, October 22
After breakfast at the hotel we must check out and depart for home. We will take a more southern route home, allowing for additional touring and sightseeing. This evening’s lodging is in Flagstaff, Arizona. B
Saturday, October 23
This morning we will visit Petrified Forest National Park. Here we’ll see the horizontal fragments of petrified logs and fossils of long-departed dinosaurs and plants that dot the multi-colored, rugged landscape. Crossing over the Continental Divide will bring us to our lodging in Albuquerque, NM. CB
Sunday, October 24
Today we travel from Mountain to Central Time continuing east on Interstate 40. Near Amarillo, Texas we will spot a row of ten Cadillac’s augured methodically into the land just south of the interstate. Cadillac Ranch was in fact placed here by pop art financier Stanley Marsh. Our lodging this evening is in Elk City, Oklahoma. CB
Monday, October 25
Today we travel across the state of Oklahoma and onto Arkansas. Our lodging for this evening will be in Little Rock. B
Tuesday, October 26
A continental breakfast at the hotel will begin our day. By later this morning we will arrive in Memphis, Tennessee where we’ll tour Graceland, home of Elvis Presley. We continue east arriving in Nashville for our evening’s accommodations. CB, L
Wednesday, October 27
This morning we will tour the Hermitage, the 625 acre estate of Andrew Jackson. The federal style home, built in 1821, still retains many of the original furnishings and fixtures, including nearly all of President and Mrs. Jackson’s personal belongings. Following our visit we will continue north to our last night’s lodging in Dublin, Virginia. CB
Thursday, October 28
Today we will head homeward with an early evening arrival. CB
