Saturday, September 11
All aboard for a trip to two of Maine’s favorite coastal destinations, Boothbay Harbor and Mount Desert Island! From a picturesque seaport dotted with fishing craft to the beautiful combination of sea, mountain, lake and forest this six day tour will highlight coastal Maine’s natural beauty. A full day of driving will bring us to the Boothbay Harbor harbor front for the next two evenings. Dinner this evening will be included at the hotel’s restaurant. D

Sunday, September 12
After breakfast at the hotel we can look forward to an eventful day. We will enjoy an incredible trip on the Atlantic Ocean as we look for a variety of whale species. This is sure to be an awesome experience as these massive creatures feed and frolic in their graceful natural environment! We will visit Boothbay Railway Village which represents a turn-of-the-century Maine village containing railroad memorabilia, antique cars and restored buildings such as a blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, general store and several other town buildings. This evening we will enjoy dinner at the Tugboat Inn. B,D

Monday, September 13
Today after breakfast at the hotel we depart and travel north along the coast. We will visit the Maine State Prison Showroom which sells wood products made by inmates. At Owls Head Transportation Museum you will see a collection of antique yet still working modes of transport - carriages, bicycles, autos and airplanes. Just up from Owls Head is Camden a shipbuilding town dating from the late 18th century. At Camden Hills State Park we will take the short road up Mount Battie for fine views of Penobscot Bay. We will then continue to Mt. Desert Island and the location of our touring for the next two days. Our lodging will be in Northeast Harbor overlooking Mt. Desert Island’s most picturesque harbor. Dinner this evening will be included at the Kimball Terrace Inn. B, D

Tuesday, September 14
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will be met by a local step-on guide who will point out all the highlights of Mount Desert Island’s Acadia National Park. The glacier-carved island is a phenomenal geological grab bag of mountains, lakes, cliffs, forests, beaches, rugged shoreline and the only true fjord-Somes Sound-on the U. S. Atlantic Coast. Included in our tour will be some of the most popular sites including Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs and Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the Atlantic Coast north of Brazil. Later today we will enjoy a harbor cruise where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views. This evening we will enjoy a lobster bake with all the fixins! B, D

Wednesday, September 15
This morning after breakfast we must check out and begin our homeward journey. Before departing Mt. Desert Island, we will stop at the Lobster Hatchery for a glimpse into this unusual industry. As we travel south along the coast we will stop in Bath to visit the Maine Maritime Museum, which focuses on Maine’s seafaring history. We’ll travel to Portland and the location of our lodging for this evening. B

Thursday, September 16
After breakfast at the hotel we will visit Portland Head Lighthouse. Situated along the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park, we will enjoy this scenic popular landmark and its award winning museum. There is also a gift shop featuring fine lighthouse and Maine related gifts. With stops for meals and rest, arrival home is scheduled for later this evening. B
